In his screen debut, Marlon Brando stars in Fred Zinnemann’s Oscar-nominated drama as Bud Wilozek, a paralysed Second World War veteran whose injuries leave him unable to consummate his marriage. He returns to hospital and the care of Dr Eugene Brock (Everett Sloane), who helps him overcome both his mental and physical frustrations in this powerful film that tackles what was, at the time, an almost taboo subject.
