The Maggie: Paul Douglas’s brash US businessman is tricked into entrusting a valuable consignment of furniture to the care of a salty old sea dog (MacKenzie) and his dilapidated little puffer (The Maggie). It’s that old Ealing comedy lesson – don’t underestimate the little man and his knackered mode of transport, especially if you’re from an urban area, or are foreign, or like your vessel to have a reliable motor inside it. Pleasing enough, especially if you’re a steam-sniffer of some sort.
