Heartbreakers | 2001 | Sigourney Weaver, Jennifer Love Hewitt

David Mirkin’s romcom stars Sigourney Weaver and Jennifer Love Hewitt as a mother-and-daughter team working the sweetest of scams. Max (Weaver) marries a rich guy, Page (Hewitt) gets him into a compromising position, Max walks in and – hey presto – big divorce settlement is forthcoming. But then the IRS come calling and to settle their huge bill, Max latches onto tobacco tycoon William B Tensy (Gene Hackman). The problem is that, for once, Max actually begins to care about her target. Meanwhile, Page falls for beach bar-owner Jack Withrowe (Jason Lee), whose property is worth a cool $3m; does she want him more than his money?
