Don Chaffey’s intriguing thriller is set in a Second World War PoW camp where all attempts to escape are stopped suspiciously quickly by the Germans. Suspecting a planted stool pigeon is revealing their plans, Lt Col David Baird (Richard Todd), head of the escape committee, overrides senior British officer Lt Col Huxley (Bernard Lee) with an audacious plan for a daylight escape of 400 prisoners – which will also expose the traitor in their midst.
